During the debut for the 2010 Ford Mustang in Santa Monica – Mark Fields – stated that Ford would soon be showing us “another chapter in the Mustang story”. Naturally this surprise will reveal itself to us during the Detroit Auto Show next month.
We are all fervently hoping that this new ‘chapter’ will be in the form of a brand new GT500. Ford has not officially announced the car or when it will make its debut or it’s gas mileage rating- but rumors spreading on the Internet did confirm that it will be a 2010 model.
We have spy photos of the new 2010 Shelby GT500 on the streets in Detroit. As is to be expected the exterior of the vehicle is all but hidden underneath the camouflage. Despite this it looks as if the hood has gotten bigger and has been given a deeper front air dam.
Many of us were surprised and just a little shocked when Ford priced the Shelby GT500KR at $79,995. The fact that it was steep was a bit of understatement. Downright expensive explains it much better. The fact that it can punch out 540 horsepower and is a limited edition Shelby makes up for some of this we have to admit that we could buy at least two really nice cars for this amount.
Ford and Shelby are celebrating their 40th anniversary in the guise of the Shelby GT500KR. This new Mustang, which was displayed at the 2008 New York Auto Show is big, bold, and packs 540 horsepower.
Only a limited number of these special cars were to be made, which is something that Shelby always stands by. Except this time they are changing the rules a bit.
